Happy New Year!

January 1st, 2008

Tonight Nomad Daughter and I hung out at home, drank lemonade and ate homemade cookies.

I wanted to go see the ball drop in Times Square. But Nomad Daughter is a tiny thing (STILL under 30lbs at 5 1/2 years old) so I’m still a little apprehensive about having her around crowds of that size.

No matter, wherever I am with my baby, it’s a happy new year.

And I wish you the same, wherever you are.

Warmest regards,

Alexis

Merry Christmas!

December 25th, 2007

To all the Momma-Claus’ and Daddy-Claus’ out there, have a wonderful day.
I wish you happiness, love and peace.
Alexis (aka Nomad Mom)

Although I don’t consider myself to be a very religious person, I am extremely spiritual. And I try to expose Nomad Daughter to as many spiritual experiences as possible. (Actually she exposes more of them to me than she knows.)

A couple of weeks ago I found East West Living near Union Square, and totally fell in love with the vibe. It’s a bookstore, cafe and yoga/event center. And everybody from the store clerks to the security guards are extremely helpful.

One of the clerks invited Nomad Daughter and I to a crystal workshop the following weekend, which we attended. To my surprise there were many little ones in attendance. Almost as many children as there were adults.

And apparently, this is pretty commonplace, because a 6-year old helped out with the workshop.

We meditated, prayed and talked about the properties of different stones. And even though it was a 3-hour workshop, none of the children got bored or whiney. They all participated and enjoyed the experience.

So if you’re feeling the need to be ’spiritual in the city’ do check out East West Living.
